BTS of your dream dress

It’s never too early to start thinking about that dress for prom next year! I know 8 months seems like forever but time flies, especially if you plan on having a bespoke dress. It’s an exciting experience but it can be a long process, so make sure you get your first design consultation booked in asap to avoid missing out!

I thought you might like to know what goes into making a bespoke dress, so I’ll talk you through Ellie’s journey of getting her dream dress designed and made!

During the first meeting with Ellie, we chatted all things sparkle, lace and princess skirts!  We explored all options and came up with a unique design just for her.  Something Ellie struggled with when looking for ready made prom dresses was the length as they were too short on her.  The perks of a handmade dress is that before the end of the appointment I took all the necessary measurements so that the dress would fit her in all the right places.

Between appointments I kept her up to date with photos of the fabrics arriving and the dress in progress so that she felt fully involved in the whole experience! Plus it kept the excitement going!

The next time Ellie had an appointment, the design we drew up together became her dress.  Her first fitting made sure the dress fit her exact measurements and any tweaks needed were pinned in place at this point.  We added extra flowers and leaves to the neckline and skirt while she modelled it for her family, making sure there wasn’t anything she wanted to change.

During her third and final fitting we cut the hem to the correct length and made sure Ellie was totally happy with everything.  I absolutely love working with the girls on their prom dresses and seeing their faces light up as they see the dress they’d only ever dreamed of become theirs.
